He brings his background as a teacher-librarian, writing instructor, hopelessly incompetent hockey player, elementary classroom teacher, seasoned Trick or Treater, parent, tabloid newspaper collector, and coach to the writing of mid-grade books for young readers. His novels combine the elements of slapstick, slightly outrageous humour along with social or personal issues facing young readers in their lives today. Klutzhood deals with the displacement of a boy forced to move in the middle of a school year and his attempt to fit into a very foreign environment. In Tabloidology, young newspaper editors face the dilemma of sacrificing fact for entertainment in reporting the news. Box of Shocks, explores the evolution of a character from complete self-indulgence towards empathy for another boy far less fortunate than himself.

Chris has also done numerous presentations, and runs a number of writing workshops both for students and adults.
